It is estimated by biologists that Northampton County has a population
of about
70 deer per square mile, with the Occoneechee region
estimated at 80-100 deer
per square mile.
We allow 2 bucks, with a spread of 14 inches or greater,
to be taken on any
given trip.
Archery
Archery Season typically
begins in the middle of September. We love to
bow hunt here at Thornbury, and will work as hard as possible
to help
you succeed.
Black Powder
Muzzleloader Season lasts for one week, just before rifle season.
The deer are still very un-pressured and success rates are high.
Rifle Season
Mid-October brings in rifle
season and along with it some
of the most productive hunting on the East Coast.
Turkey Hunting
North Carolina allows hunting all day for the spring gobbler.
We limit the
harvest to TWO mature gobblers per stay.
Duck Hunting
In the past years we have taken such species as: mallards, woodies,
widgeon,
