Mopani
Safaris
. We
take pride in making sure that your Hunting Trip is one
you will remember for a lifetime!
Welcome!
Good
morning or evening ladies and gentlemen depending on where you are in
the world. Our
Hunting is done in two regions, Doma
(totally
unfenced) which is 5 hrs NNE from Harare by vehicle and the Muzarabani
Campfire area with the hunting in the Muzarabani Valley (totally
unfenced about five hours by vehicle away to the west). You
have
to be fit to hunt in the Muzarabani Valley as the hills are 2000 ft and
it is up and down hunting for elephant, sable and the various plains
game but its a incredible hunt. All hunting is
stalking, so
good
broken in shoes are a must.
Safari
Packages --- Doma area
unfenced and Alex has rights to 225,000 plus acres of 18 million acres
.

Tips: YOUR CALL ENTIRELY, normally it

Average
Size of Trophies:
Eland - have not seen
one yet that did not go into SCI, mine went 89.
Alex just has
big damn eland is all I can say.
Impala - normal size 18
- 24 inches and some are bigger, luck of the
draw as usual in hunting
Grysbok - should make SCI
book
Klipspringer - They are nice
trophies and fun to hunt.
Buffalo Bull - 38 to 45 inches
and they are all big body, figure
1800-2000 pounders and they are tough
Elephant Bull
Tusks - 38-45 pounds but
there are some bigger ones
especially that one old boy no one has gotten.
He has one huge
tusk and the other is half way broken off.
Leopard - 150 pounds - 200
pounds, will usually measure over 14 inches
so will go into SCI; mine was 15 inches and no. 58 in SCI book, biggest
was 17 inches; Alex has some big leopards and most of his clients are
Europeans so they don't put any of these trophies into SCI or Rowland
& Ward which is a pity.
Lion: big and
usually full mane, Alex has a quota of one and it goes
quick and it should go into the SCI book
Crocodile: 12 ft and there
is a monster out there about four hour drive
from Muzarabani Valley and he is a true maneater. His back
foot
print measured 16 inches plus and if one inch equals a foot, then this
bad boy is a true 16 footer.
Duiker: normal
Kudu: 50 inch plus and
there are some big ones there but it is the luck
of the draw as all hunting is
Sable: 38-45 inches,
should all go into the SCI book
Waterbuck: 24/25 inches
plus and should go into the SCI book as there
are some bigger ones there
BOOKING
YOUR TRIP:
To book
with Alex please contact me, one half of
the daily
rate will have to be paid to book and the other half 30 days before the
start of your safari. Everyone will need to take malaria
pills
and I would suggest a tetanus shot to be on the safe side when
traveling overseas. If you take your rifle, please get the US
Customs form to show ownership, otherwise, you will catch hell trying
to bring it back into the country. For the guys in Germany,
the
European weapon card and your German hunting license is enough. Ammo is
limited to 5 kilos or 12 pounds and must be locked up in a hard case
that will be checked in. You will need to tell the airlines
you
are carrying a rifle and ammo and they will want the make, model,
length, weight, serial number of the rifle and caliber and the length,
width and weight of the carrying case. Please pack light as
laundry is done daily so do not take a lot of clothes as they are not
needed. As far as water goes, it is all bottled.
With Alex, the day of arrival and day
of departure
are not charged unlike the rest of the safaris outfitters throughout
Africa. If you do not want to use your rifle, Alex has a 300
Win
Mag, 9.3x62, 375 H&H, 416 Rigby and shotguns for
birds. It
will cost you $25 a day to rent them and whatever ammo you use up and
all of them are tack drivers with Zeiss scopes. I will be
going
in either Oct or Nov this year. I take SAA out of Dulles IAP
(Virginia) to Johannesburg, South Africa to Harare, Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe
is prefectly safe for hunters and their
guest
otherwise I would notrecommend this, as it is my
reputation plain and simple. You will be picked up at the
airport
(Harare International Airport) by either Alex or one of his PHs and
then drive to either Doma or Muzararbani. Beer and wine is
included in the daily rate along with all meals but if you are like me
and drink single malt scotch whiskey, pick it up in Johannesburg
because Zimbabwe does not have single malt scotch whiskey anymore. If you
want the lion, go early like March, April,
May or
June. Any questions please call me at home or e-mail me at
either
RVPVINEUROPE@hotmail.com or RVINEUROPE@hotmail.com. As I live
in
Virginia on the east coast (Windsor, Virginia which is 30 miles due
east of Langley AFB and Norfolk NAS) I am in the Eastern Standard Time
Zone. For those who will be going, I will send you
a
detailed list of things to carry and what not to carry and what to
expect if this is your first time to Africa to hunt, etc.
